Your thoughts will always be with me when I pass by a “tattered dress”.

I was so afraid that my Grandmothers Home Place would fall into disrepair when they left it to move from Missouri to Texas to live with us. I was more than delighted when, some 30 years later we made the effort to go see the "old home place, we found it beautifully restored, the basement cleared and being used as living space, and the back pasture now a rolling hill of green providing a lovely view from the newly added 1st floor deck. It brought joy to my heart to see this loving care as it only enhanced my memories of the house as I knew it.

What a lovely story! My husband and I were just driving through Idaho between Idaho Falls and Boise where I kept a look out for weathered barns and homes and chicken coops. Nothing compares to my home North Carolina, but Idaho has it’s share of sheds and shelters still standing as sentinels of past lives and unspoken history. Thank you for another story reminding me of home. 😊
