Great stories. I have had cats since i was about 10 yrs old. A pure black cat decided he would live with us. Minky. Since then i have had Siamese cats who rule. Singtoe, Blue, Leah, Snowbaby and now Punkin. All Siamese. Blue Point, Chocolate Point, Flame Point and each lived 17 years. Each one unique just like kids and each one had good and bad idiosyncrasies. When Snowbaby died i swore i wasn’t going to get another one. That lasted about 6 months until i saw a Flamepoint. Punkin is the smartest of them all but such a brat and beautiful! Even my husband is attached to this one.
Our big ole Tom was named Otis. He showed up one day, skinny and starving, but after those initial meals, he acted like he had always been one of us. Quiet and easy going, he never asked for anything, not even attention. When you picked him up however, he put both long front legs around your neck and hugged you. He was a faithful and uncomplaining friend to our two autistic sons, and when he went away, he left a big hole in our hearts.
Thank you for paying homage to pets. I have 8 rescue kitties and built an add on "catio" with a cat door and human door for sharing shady space, safe from coyotes and other predators common on the farm. Wired and roofed, it was built for protection from predators, but on the first night I used it, I found one kitty in stare-down mode with a small copperhead who found a space in the wire to slither through. Rastus would not back off the snake and I had to take a hoe to Mr. No Shoulders, carefully apologizing to the doomed and transfixed reptile before I chopped off his head cleanly.
What a wonderful story. I love cats. 🐈 I recently lost my big yellow tomcat Shepherd. He was a rescue from the shelter. I loved him and miss him so much😢I still have our little girl cat Rosemary. He was 18 lbs and she is 5 lbs. They tolerated each other. Thank you for loving cats😍
Mine was a male named Nosey. It was blue gray and extremely mild mannered. Truth is he was my wife’s cat, but she passed away and Nosey became mine. He was 16 when he became weaker and weaker he had been with us in Oklahoma, Tennessee, South Carolina, Montana, Maryland. I was holding him when he slowly breathed his last few breaths. It was three years ago, and tears are still rolling down both my cheeks.
