The chiggers . . . hot summer farm work. Dinner (lunch) made it all bearable. I'd stretch out on the church pew we had on the back porch afterwards, for 20 minutes, knowing I was fortified with a fried baloney sandwich to take on the afternoon.
Wow!!! I had forgotten about chiggers!!! I really miss those days picking blackberries. We always had our dog with us because of snakes that thankfully we never saw. Those years on the farm will always be so very special to me… not just the daily chores, but the joy of family fun as we did those things together like picking blackberries. ❤️
I miss my childhood summers ... happy, rewarding travels.
