Leafing through a favorite book on the South recently, it struck me that reading the contents alone speaks volumes about us. The topics almost formed a melody. Maybe you'll agree. Here's a selection from topics that begin with the letter "S".
Santee Delta, sawmill gravy, scuppernongs, Sea Islands, seersucker, Sewanee, shag, she-crab soup, shrimp and grits, slaw, sleeping porches, sorghum, soul food, Southern Comfort, spanish moss, sweetgrass baskets, sweet potatoes, and sweet tea.
And I'll add another "S" to the list - as in Steve Robinson - whose photo from Terrell County, Georgia says the rest.
Good stuff! Skillet, skedaddle, ske-doo-doo, supper, sawgrass, skiff and skeeters ... Sandhills, Sneads Ferry and Sugar Creek!
Love this & the photo.
