Sometimes, "less" is just exactly the right amount. Christmas greenery in the South very often consists of one thing - magnolia leaves. Magnolia Grandiflora is the gift that keeps on giving all year long for us. As if the saucer-sized flowers in June weren't enough, we harvest these branches and leaves in winter and deck our halls, walls, mantels and doorways. Very little else is necessary. Sometimes we add a red bow - or a pineapple - but otherwise, these glossy green beauties know how to say "Merry Christmas" with a Southern accent all by themselves.

Amen. How many Southern boys remember cutting magnolia for their mothers and grandmothers so they could make wreaths back in the day (and boxwood, nandina, hemlock, cedar, holly, etc.). Such memories.
A former high school friend of mine, sent me 2, knowing I was homesick for the South ...I hang them on my bookcases.
