We all love Key Lime Pie, but somehow it just tastes better on site. I first posted this last June, and it is worth another look.
Since I’m in Key West for the month of June, we might as well talk about Key Lime Pie. It was invented right here in the kitchen of the Curry Mansion, half a block off of Duval Street. William Curry’s cook, a woman named Aunt Sally, is credited with perfecting a recipe improvised by Keys sailors and the result has put way too many pounds on the hips of America.
As much as we love the various offerings down here - from iconic restaurants to the mass-produced and marketed versions that are sold in the pie shops, homemade is still my first choice. Here is my recipe, if you’re interested.

I live in Savannah. My wife, from Winston-Salem, judges every eating establishment by the quality of their key lime pie.
In 44 years of marriage and 10 years of courtship, I have tasted a lot of key lime pie.
The current epitome? The Bridge Tender in Wrightsville Beach NC. Unchallenged for decades.
Tonight we will dine at the Bridge Tender. We will eat fresh local seafood and key lime pie.
Is this a great country or what? God bless us all.
