Daddy's Favorite

My name is not Little Debbie, but because her oatmeal cookies were a favorite of my dad’s, I was duty-bound to create a homemade version that would stand up against hers with head held high.

This is a classic chewy cookie that you can bake as shown or turn into your own masterpiece with options not included in my recipe. Today’s post gives you the basic recipe plus a few delicious suggestions for thinking outside the box. It all depends on what your family enjoys most.

In Daddy’s case, it was the simple version of two of these, held together in the middle with a generous amount of cream cheese frosting. He would have lived off of these and pimento cheese sandwiches in his later years if my mother had allowed it.
